Blue Baby
Can I use a baby blue Primer to prime the wall and then paint a dark Purple over it?
Due to our budget, I have a gallon left of baby blue primer and I have a gallon of a lavender color. Would it be ok to use the baby blue primer prime the wall and the paint the lavender color over it? Our house is new and has not been painted or have latex paint b/c the surface is a lil rough when you rub against it.
If you have taken the time to buy a new house, then do it right! And is your color dark purple or lavender?? When I think lavender, I think a light pastel color, which is very different from dark purple. This will DRASTICALLY affect the primer you use underneath. The proper primer saves you money, time and stress. People always ask for Pepto pink primer for under red, which forces you to put 6 coats on to get the color you want. I used grey primer under red and did it in 2 coats – that is the difference a proper primer makes. You really need to go to your local paint store ( a real one, not some 16 year old lackey at Home Depot who is clueless) and get what you need there. To save on paint, buy “mistints” which a perfect gallon of paint but was either returned or not purchased because the person said “that’s not the color I asked for”. I get mine for $2 at General Paint (for a gallon) and then that allows you to splurge on the primer, which you should NEVER skimp on!!!!!!! Unless of course you want to buy extra gallons upon gallons of paint and spend time doing 6 coats instead of 2! I hope this helps and saves you time and money!!!!
