Dandelion Classic
What are some classics I should read? (High School)?
Our teacher gave us a list of classics we can pick from and we have to read 3 books on our own this semester. I am in 12th grade. What are some good, interesting ones? Chances are, if it is a well known classic, it is on the list. It can be a modern writer or an old one. I am not the best reader. English isnt my strong subject.

Haha I agree with “The Scarlet Letter.” From your list of ‘like’ books you seem to mostly like 20th century books, so you might like George Orwell. His two classics are “Animal Farm” and “1984.” For the most part I don’t really like the more modern classics so I’m drawn to books by Jane Austen, Margaret Mitchell, Charles Dickens, etc. From those authors I would highly recommend “Pride and Prejudice”, “Emma”, “Gone With the Wind” and “A Tale of Two Cities.” You might also enjoy Alexandre Dumas’ “Count of Monte Cristo”, Jonathan Swift’s “Gulliver’s Travels, or Mary Shelly’s “Frankenstein.” “Frankenstein” was a little creepy but a good book if you like that sort of thing.
