Why do football players and other athletes get paid so much?
I’m naive about the whole thing, but i just dont understand why pro athletes get paid obscene amounts of money (millions of dollars) to do, what exactly?
Doctors, scientists and teachers help advance our world into the future. Doctors save millions of lives each day, scientists work on new technology and discoveries that will make our lives better, and teachers help prepare the next generation for being productive adults.
Yet they get paid a small fraction of what athletes get paid to toss a ball.
Can someone explain this to me?
Doctors, scientiests, and teachers don’t generate the kind of revenues that athletes do. Sports bring in many many millions of dollars and these dollars have to go somewhere. Where does the money come from? – ticket sales, concessions sales, merchadise sales, and tv and radio pay huge sums of money to broadcast the games. If you wanna blame somebody, blame us fans for loving sports so much. Point is millions of people don’t pay money to watch teachers teach or doctors operate. But we do to watch athletes compete.
