Dreams Plush
My child one day, I pray, will you comment please?
The noise of the day past,
night will last as long as sleep
keeps the child held fast in streams
the wild or mild of the day
Tonight she will lay
aware or not in her dreams
the best of life, accepted, growing
some forgotten in wind blowing.
I hold her to my breast and breath
a one eyed, one eared, plush held tight
under her resting arm
which is the guardian of the night?
WE are the guardians, those who know what evil lurks and will teach the young to recognize without taking innocence away…for we still have innocence in us.
By ‘we’ I mean anyone who understands what this poem is about.
