A guide to help learning the snare drum…?
On monday my school will be having try-outs for band classes, I need help finding the best guide to learn “drumline” snare skills quick. I know the basic drum directions but I am out of practice. Please don’t Google “Snare drum guide” or something I would like a answer from people that have had the same problem. Please!
You’re very fortunate to live in a school district where the music program can discriminate who takes the class. Some districts have given up on music because of budget cuts.
Just do what you know. Make sure you keep time, primarily. Then worry about the strokes, then worry about accents, then worry about sticking. You can work on strokes, accents and sticking later, just make sure they see you can keep time by yourself.
