But, I think the reason is drugs and alcohol, because they are different to everyone else, they feel apart, and so they use such things to try to feel better.
Society has always alienated that which is different, from Beethoven and Bach, to modern day musicians.
Society wants people to be “sheep”, to fit in, and true genius can’t fit in, so they burn out young.
(Tragic but true, at least IMHO!
