I Have Hamster question?
How long after you get a hamster, once you put it in its cage, can you start to hold it. I just got a black bear hamster today, and I held her once or twice, and she was really calm, good, and NOT shy,but she did NOT bite, shes an angel. She was a lovey dove. Her name is Clowie. After or before I hold her she doesn’t look scared, she doesn’t hide, or try to move away. Can i hold her today… Or when can I again???

You sound extremely lucky as most hamsters will bite at first. Although you are meant to leave them in their cage at First as long as you haven’t got her out all the time then she should be fine. She sounds a really cute hamster. Just make sure that when you put your hand in the cage allow her to come up to you and sniff your hand as she will recognise you smell do this every single time you want ot handle her not just when shes new as this will help her to trust you and gradually she should walk onto your hand wanting you to handle her. If at anytime when you put your hand in the cage she backs away and doesn’t come and sniff you the Just take your hand back out because she’s probably in a bad mood or doesn’t feel like playing. Its important not ot try to grab her if she doesn’t come up to you as this can destroy the trust she has in you. But i don’t think you have got anything to worry about as you sound like a good hamster owner and she sounds like a great hamster!
