should canaries have mirrors in their cages or not?
Ive gotten mixed information so I was wondering what others thought.
mine has a mirror toy with little beads that it sits and moves back and forth all day. he is always sitting by it.
I had read they were supposed to kept solitary, I did not know they were supposed to kept with a companion. I hope you were not insinuating that I would not want my bird to be happy, because I certainly do. I would love to get it a partner if that is what is best.
Male canaries don’t want to sing if there is a mirror in the cage. The canary looking into the mirror will think there’s another canary around and won’t sing. Mirrors can cause a canary to become depressed, as well, since the canary doesn’t get a respons from the image it sees in the mirror. For a canary, I’d advise against a mirror.
