Luxating patella in new pug puppy?
I just bought the sweetest pug puppy last monday. I brought him to my vet for a vet check sense i had 72 hours to tell the breeder and get a full refund here are all the prblems with little mylo.
1.Grade 2 luxating patella
2. Musical I/VI Heart murmer ( Vet says that hell mostleikely grow out of it)
3.Only one left teste
im already attched to the baby, she also sold him to me when he was bairly 6 weeks, and i was reading when i got home that puppies need to be with there litter mates 6-8 weeks and be socialized. Even though hes not shy at all and thinks everyone is his BFF. Did anyone else have these problems with there pug??? or other breed? Im taking him to another vet tomorow to get another opinion. I told the vet the second i found out and i get a refund. I just love him already! but if its going to cost me 5000 dollars for him to be healthy i cant provide what he needs!
It is always so good to buy from a backyard breeder. Good for the vet that is.
If the puppy is currently grade 2 on the Patella I promise you it will get worse.
Never fear, surgery is only $2000 per leg. Good news is it is bi-lateral, that means both legs
will need surgery, so only $4,000.
Not sure what a musical grade 1/6 heart murmur means. They only grade them 1-5 or in Roman numerals I- V. VI =6
If its more then a grade 2 then don’t hold your breath it will get better.
Not to worry, say she needs PDA/Stenosis surgery for her heart. That is only about $3,500 or so
Last but not least- Cryptorchid surgery, to neuter. Considered exploratory surgery. The last dog I had that done on was a Husky that was dumped on my ranch. $800.
Personally I think you need to return the dog to the breeder even if you get no money back.
Clearly your health guarantee is in force and you do have a full return on the dog.
I also want to point out that even with well bred Pugs, you are looking at surgery for Elongated Soft Palate and Stenotic Nares for this kind of dog. I just had a Soft Palate surgery done on my dog last year that cost $2,600.
