Is it possible to make your own guitar songs without learning songs by other artists?
Well, I love music, and I want to be able to make my own guitar riffs, solo’s etc. But I don’t want to learn songs by other musicians. Is there any strategies to do this? I know it is a stupid question. But I’d just like to see if it actually is possible to write songs without learning songs by other artists…
Yes it’s possible.
The only problem you’ll run into with this approach is that what you learn might not be backed with the experience to make to shine. In other words, you might want a few rides on some roller coasters before you design your own.
All that aside though, there are definite strategies in song writing. Mainly you’ll need to be aware of chord families and chord progressions. Once you have your key picked out and some progressions mapped out, you can find the correct scale for the song and improvise away.
