Best developmental toys for 5 month old?
I’m a first time mom.
My son has an exerscaucer with lots of toys on it, like a flip ‘book’ rattles, a spinny toy, mirrors, abcs and numbers, ect. I add some toys to it like his teething keys, stuffed animals, ect. He LOVES sitting in it and playing for an hour or more. he has a johnny jumper that he loves as well. He has blocks, balls, and books.
We watch a baby DVD with words/ABC/123 flash cards, we listen to music and sing and we read to him every night.
We do tummy time, spend lots of time together ‘talking’ he ‘play walks’, tries to crawl, ect. He’s very happy and relaxed.
What else should he have/do?
What do your babies this age play with?

It sounds like you have the entire Babies R Us store for your son already LOL.
My daughter (who is now 7 months old) loved her Jumper to death, but our doctor told us that the jumper can delay development because they aren’t truly using their legs to help strengthen them. They also can’t see their feet, so they don’t learn how to take steps properly. My nephew used his jumper at least an hour a day and didn’t walk until he was a 1 1/2 years! So I only limit her jumping time to approximately 20 minutes a day.
Right now, tummy time is the BEST thing you can do with your child. This is the time he learns how to take control of his body and develop. He will quickly start practicing rolling over, crawling, sitting, standing and finally walking.
You can get him a playmat that has toys hanging from it. They cost about $30-$50 for a cute one at Target. You can also get him “crawling” toys, anything that moves, to help get him moving! Anything with buttons to push that makes noise helps him learn. There are lots of cute ones to choose from at every baby store.
