RSV in 4 month old?
My mom has been sick the last couple of days with either a cold or the flu and I am living with her while my husband is deployed. My daughter has been in contact with her (not very much since she started getting sick) and now my daughter has a little bit of a cough. It also sounds like she a little rattle in her chest but she has been very vocal the last couple days and is also teething, which I know a cough can accompany that. She does not have a temperture or a runny nose but she has been kinda sleepy today. (She is not on much of a schedule though so its not completely out of the ordinary) I am getting on an airplane with her for the first time to go to my inlaws and I was wondering if anyone thinks I should take her in or am I just being paranoid. She does not act like she feels bad at all, still smiling and talking like normal. What do you think?
My daughter had RSV at two months of age, and her’s started out as a respiratory infection that progressed quickly into bronchilitus and then into RSV. She was hospitalized for about a week and treated with breathing therapy and bi-hourly nasal cleaning (ie with a nasal vaccum).
She started out with much the same sypmtoms, and I just asked about it myself here because I am worried she is getting it again. One thing that did set me off last time that something major was wrong, was that her little lips were blue around the edges.
One way to help her if she is congested is to use a pillow under her mattress to prop her up at a 35-45 degree angle to help with the drainage if she has some. Vick Vapor rub did nothing to help my daughter, nor did the humidifier, but it may work for your daughter.
I would definately have her looked at by the doctor, and even if they say it is nothing but the teething, don’t let them rule out RSV.
