How to stop the dog from biting?
II have a 2 month old pomeranian
She nibs on everything, I gave her kong toys, stuffed animals and every thing shee needs, she seems to interent in wire and furniture more.
How can i stop this behavior?
Dogs of any age, breed, size and sex need to satisfy the need of biting. The bad thing is that if your dog is not well trained, it will bite on furniture or other objects.
Probably the best strategy to control “excessive biting” is to keep your dog busy on different activities; boredom often leads to disaster, a play partner or an exhaustive play session could work very adequately.
Many dogs can suffer of anxiety, another remedy for a dog that stays home alone for most part of the day is to create a small “ambiance” for it to feel more comfortable:
-Many dogs like music or the sound of a television set.
-Never leave your home too dark, light is very important for your pet.
-If possible allow your pet to gain access to a window where it can watch the outside world.
-Walk your dog every morning before going to work.
-Like human beings, dogs can stress out if the temperature is not adequate.
-Talk to your dog in the same way, clear and strong voice and pointing with your index finger when commanding.
- Give your dog a damped towel, they love to chew on that.
Patience and observation of your pet could help you to find the cause of so much biting, but in your case you have a puppy which maybe is going thru the process of shedding and replacing of teeth, which make their gums very uncomfortable and “chewing” on a piece of furniture could be a very good relief.
